I don’t need to tell you why to clear your clutter. You already have your reasons. What’s more, I’m willing to bet that you’re feeling a bit overwhelmed… or somebody you love does… because otherwise you wouldn’t be reading this sentence.
You’ve come to the right place. This website will erase that overwhelming feeling.
Maybe you’re a through-and-through “pack rat”. Or maybe you’re only slightly messy, on account of a busy lifestyle or a big family. Regardless of where on the scale you fit, you’ll find useable information here.
Here’s a snippet of the topics this website covers:
Attic/Basement/Garage Clutter
When you cling to “stuff” like static, it usually ends up in the attic. Corny, I know, but true nonetheless. Here we cover specific strategies for eradicating the clutter mounds that tend to grow in the attic… or basement… or garage bay. Like a fungus.
Want an example?
You can set up pegboard in the garage as an alternative storage option. It gives you a place to hang up rakes, shovels and other yard gear quickly and easily.
Closet Clutter
Yet another common problem area we help you take head on. Here’s an idea to get you started:
Set up a “clothing cycle rule” to manage your wardrobe. An example would be, say, getting rid of any clothes you haven’t worn for the past 3 months. Of course, you can set your own interval… but a 25 year clothing cycle isn’t valid.
The important point is to stick with the time frame. Sentiment will pop up, so expect and prepare for it. If you have a garment with sentimental value, take a photo and then cycle it out. Easier said than done, but it keeps your closet neat and opens up space for a new garment to attach new memories to.
Technology Clutter
It is the best of times; it is the worst of times. The technology we’ve designed to make our lives easier is making it more complicated. This section shows you how to keep technology (both digital and physical) from getting out of hand.
An example is email cutter management. We all know how disheveled your inbox can get. One solution is to set “inbox rules” that automatically delegate emails into specified folders. This keeps your inbox clean and neat.
One basic structure would use one folder for family emails, another folder for colleagues, a third for newsletters. You can even set up sweeping rules, such as sending forwarded messages (those pesky chain letters) directly to junk mail.
General Tips
This is a catch-all section. We put all the tips, tricks and hacks that don’t fit neatly into any other section here. This is our way of keeping the website de-cluttered.
Your Next Step
According to Rita Emmett (author of The Clutter-Busting Handbook), when you clear your clutter you also eliminate 40% of the housework. If that wasn’t motivation enough, clutter dues negatively affect your mentality… and maybe more.
For some of us, a cluttered space can even give an almost physical sensation… making you feel trapped.
The time to get free of your clutter trap is now. We can help. Look through the sections that catch your eye, or use the “General Tips” section as starting blocks. And if you have specific questions or topic ideas, feel free to contact us here.
